Knitting and crochet

Finished two projects last week.

First was a little jacket for Baby B.

I must admit that I did not enjoy knitting this. It was knitted in Sirdar snuggly snowflake chunky, which is a fluffy, thready wool which I found quite difficult to knit with, especially as it was hard to see the stitches and pattern. However Hannah loves it. I think Baby B will look like a little blue teddy bear when he wears it.

Second was a quick baby blanket for Baby B. I enjoyed crocheting this one as it was easy and quick to do. I used Olypus patchwork DK wool which is a self striping wool.

Lovely summer weekend

It was a scorching hot weekend and happy, happy we were visiting Hannah and Rob and my two wee men. So we packed up a picnic and off we went to Dalby Forest for the day.

Much fun was had playing cricket.

Baby B stayed in the shade out of the sun.

Later we went further into the forest.

And walked along beside the water.

Grandad is always handy when little legs get tired.

A rest and an ice cream.

Tease Granpa.

Happy Baby B.

Back home where much fun was had with Little C's new kiddiekutter

And a spectacle drinking straw.

Men and their iPads.

Baby B on his mat.

What a lovely weekend we have had. Back home now and missing my wee men already.

Nature in the home

This week Lou has asked for something red.
For me it has to be these.

I love tomatoes but especially local freshly picked tomatoes - they taste so sweet and fresh.

Nature in the home.

This week it is "Something White" . My garden plants are slow growing this year and this is my first hydrangea. I love these and intend to dry it and keep it for a display later in the year.

52 weeks of happiness.

1. Seeing my little cat snuggled up in the blanket I made for her.

2. Roses growing all over the side of the garden shed.

3. Stuffed rolls for lunch.

4. The stained glass window in a local church. The photo just doesn't do it justice - it is stunning.

A Perfect Evening

A rare sunny evening. I love to sit in the garden on my old bench after tea. What can be more perfect than a sunny spot, a bowl of cherries for desert and a nice coffee. I sit and read till it gets too chilly, enjoying the quiet and the heavenly smell of honeysuckle which grows beside the bench.

52 weeks of happiness

Late again.

A very quick striped blanket for Baby B's buggy.

The first honeysuckle flowering. I just love the smell of this, especially in the evening when it seems to get stronger as the sun goes down.

My garden as everything begins to flower.

My cat - she is such a gentle, loving little girl.

A tricky one this week - " A Gift "

I decided on this

Tiny apples on our apple tree. Not yet in the home I know, but they will be when they are larger and ready to be made into chutney and apple jelly. One of God's many gifts to us.

Nature in the home

Joining in again with lou's nature in the home Here

I'm not sure what this flower is but I love it. It flowers from spring until late in the year and the combination of lilac and bright yellow is so beautiful. There is a huge bush of it by my back gate and I often pick a bunch for in the house.

52 weeks of happiness

A quiet week getting back into my normal routine. I don't do a lot some weeks but I am so happy and contented with my life. M had an unexpected Friday off so we had a trip to Lincoln. So here are a few of the happy things for this week.

Hot chocolate at Costa and later tea at this lovely barge cafe.

Very compact but pretty inside.

There were little tables at the other side.

My little cat loves anything knitted so I crocheted her her own blanket out of odd ends of chunky wool I had left over. She loves it.

Nature in the home

I found this wonderful web site here and decided to join in nature in the home. Although I live in a small market town there are lots of little paths and shortcuts which have lots of wild flowers, bushes etc growing beside them. I picked these on my way home today and they cheer my little kitchen up nicely.

52 weeks of happiness 1/52

Well I am late starting this but so what.
Things that have made me happy this week - where do I start - so much happiness this sunny summer week.

1. Finishing knitting a baby blanket for Hannah. I agreed to knit it before checking the size - huge- much bigger than I thought a baby blanket would be and I didn't check the pattern either - it is actually two blankets sewn together. Although it was very easy to knit it was very boring and tedious. So very happy it is finished.

2. Time spent with family.

3. Meeting Fia again after a week away.

4. My favourite breakfast - fruit compote layered with Greek yogurt and topped with granola. Also good for dessert.

A relaxing day.

After the hectic last week it was so nice to just relax and potter. It was yet another warm sunny day so I had a slow stroll into town to get in some shopping, then back to the house for lunch in the garden - Hannah and I went to Newcastle on Wednesday and treated ourselves to these

Krispie Kreme doughnuts!

So it is back to healthy eating for me.
After lunch I went back to the house and did some hoovering and tidying then back out to the garden for coffee and a read.
What a lovely relaxing day.

Summer Outing

Just back from spending a few days with Hannah. The weather remains beautiful so we spent a relaxing afternoon at a nearby lavender farm.
Lunch was followed by a train ride

Then a slow wander around the farm

A drive on a tractor

And a game that spans generations - blowing a dandelion clock.

Next was a play with all the games in the maze

Limbo pole??

Making beautiful?? music
Giant Jenga
Chess
After a fun afternoon we finished off with an ice lolly for  Wee C and a cream scone for mum and grandma. And as for baby B - he slept most of the afternoon.
