52 weeks of happiness

A quiet week getting back into my normal routine. I don't do a lot some weeks but I am so happy and contented with my life. M had an unexpected Friday off so we had a trip to Lincoln. So here are a few of the happy things for this week.

Hot chocolate at Costa and later tea at this lovely barge cafe.

Very compact but pretty inside.

There were little tables at the other side.

My little cat loves anything knitted so I crocheted her her own blanket out of odd ends of chunky wool I had left over. She loves it.

Nature in the home

I found this wonderful web site here and decided to join in nature in the home. Although I live in a small market town there are lots of little paths and shortcuts which have lots of wild flowers, bushes etc growing beside them. I picked these on my way home today and they cheer my little kitchen up nicely.

52 weeks of happiness 1/52

Well I am late starting this but so what.
Things that have made me happy this week - where do I start - so much happiness this sunny summer week.

1. Finishing knitting a baby blanket for Hannah. I agreed to knit it before checking the size - huge- much bigger than I thought a baby blanket would be and I didn't check the pattern either - it is actually two blankets sewn together. Although it was very easy to knit it was very boring and tedious. So very happy it is finished.

2. Time spent with family.

3. Meeting Fia again after a week away.

4. My favourite breakfast - fruit compote layered with Greek yogurt and topped with granola. Also good for dessert.

A relaxing day.

After the hectic last week it was so nice to just relax and potter. It was yet another warm sunny day so I had a slow stroll into town to get in some shopping, then back to the house for lunch in the garden - Hannah and I went to Newcastle on Wednesday and treated ourselves to these

Krispie Kreme doughnuts!

So it is back to healthy eating for me.
After lunch I went back to the house and did some hoovering and tidying then back out to the garden for coffee and a read.
What a lovely relaxing day.

Summer Outing

Just back from spending a few days with Hannah. The weather remains beautiful so we spent a relaxing afternoon at a nearby lavender farm.
Lunch was followed by a train ride

Then a slow wander around the farm

A drive on a tractor

And a game that spans generations - blowing a dandelion clock.

Next was a play with all the games in the maze

Limbo pole??

Making beautiful?? music
Giant Jenga
Chess
After a fun afternoon we finished off with an ice lolly for  Wee C and a cream scone for mum and grandma. And as for baby B - he slept most of the afternoon.

Summer at last

Summer has arrived at last. Another warm, sunny day and a leisurely walk to the garden centre to buy some plants and have  cuppa.

The rape seed is blooming a bit later than usual but is glorious and colourful

The hedgerows are full of hawthorn blossom which has always been one of my favourites.

I feel so much better with a bit of sun and all this beauty around me.
I've even managed to catch up in the garden and have planted up most of my pots now.

The lilac in the garden is coming into flower and the scent is heady and strong - lovely.

The clematis is in full bloom and there is a fence full of it outside the kitchen - lovely to look at while washing the dishes. It always cheers me up.

Birthday Boy

Back again - what a busy year -on 1st March we had a new arrival  - my second grandson - Blake - so I have been up and down to Malton helping Hannah out with the baby.
We are just back from another weekend at Hannah's - this time for Carter's birthday.
On Friday we arrived at lunch time and as it was a rare beautiful, sunny day we headed off to a nearby farm.
Much fun was had bouncing on big inflatable pillows - until mummy decided to have a go to.
Baby Blake was his usual delightful, happy self.

In the evening we had a barbecue tea and as Carter was having his party the next day  he had a cup cake birthday cake with candles to blow out. Hannah made the most yummy banana and chocolate cup cakes with a lovely chocolate cream topping.
Saturday was the day of Carter's pirate and princess party.
 For hungry princesses

and hungry pirates.

 Princess juice
 and pirate pop.
 Table full of goodies.
Melon shark full of fresh fruit.
 Hariboo tree.
 Table.
 One tired pirate.

Our birthday boy.
Birthday cake.

I'm so proud of my daughter - everything for the party was home made - apart from Carter's costume. Between us we made everything - the cake, the melon shark, the labels for juice and chocolate etc.
I made Blake's little costume and was so pleased with the way it came out.
